The Story Behind Care Optometry
In early 2020, Care Optometry was simply born in early out of an unmet need.
I'm Linda Nguyen, the owner and founder of this family-run practice, with a vision to make eye care more accessible and inclusive for everyone.
Since graduating in 2006, I spent over a decade as a locum optometrist—working in countless clinics and experiencing first-hand the limitations of many traditional practice settings. Most optometry clinics are compact, filled with large equipment, and often not designed with accessibility in mind. For those with mobility challenges, the physical environment alone can be a major barrier to receiving proper care.
The turning point came when a patient in a motorised mobility scooter tried to enter a consultation room I can only describe as the size of a shoebox. It was impossible for her to get in, turn around, or even transfer safely to the examination chair. Despite the struggle, she was simply relieved to have made it—having missed her last appointment entirely because no taxi was willing to pick her up.
That moment stayed with me.
From that day forward, I became passionate about creating a service that brings dignified, accessible eye care to those who need it most. Meeting the patients who’ve benefited from this service has made every step of this journey deeply rewarding.
Care Optometry has since expanded its services to assist children in schools and daycares, and those recovering from traumatic brain injuries in rehabilitation hospitals.
Our home/facility/hospital mobile optometry service is best suited to individuals with:
Our school / daycare optometry service also caters for children of all ages.
